Allow me to introduce myself—my name is Amanda Simkins, and I am the Director of Little Explorers. My journey in early childhood education began as a childminder, which led me to become an Early years teacher working in schools. This experience has given me valuable insight into the expectations for preparing children for school.
As a mother of four children, including two with additional needs, I fully understand the challenges that parents face. I take great pride in my ability to empathize with and support families, ensuring that childcare is both affordable and of the highest quality.
Parental commitment is vital, and our Parent Committee plays a key role in shaping a nurturing and effective learning environment. By working together, we can discuss ideas, share feedback, and gain valuable insights from a parent’s perspective. This collaboration helps us continuously improve our approach, ensuring we meet the needs of both children and families. Your involvement strengthens our community and enhances every child’s experience
At Little Explorers, we are an Ofsted-registered nursery offering exceptional care for children aged 0-5 years. Our setting is led by experienced educators dedicated to fostering a safe, nurturing, and fun environment that encourages children to thrive.
Our mission is to provide local families with the support they need to work, study, or enjoy leisure activities by offering affordable and high-quality childcare services. We are committed to creating an environment where children feel safe, valued, and inspired to learn.

Little Explorers Nursery Hodge Hill-Expecting Babies from Sept 2025
Exciting new From Sept 2025 We will be accepting Babies at this Branch and opening hours will change
Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm (TERM TIME ONLY )
Explorers pre-school (22 months – 5 years) – Our teacher-led preschool provides a nurturing and stimulating environment for children aged 22 months to 5 years, fostering independence, confidence, and self-expression. Our experienced educators guide children through play-based learning, helping them grow into strong, capable individuals with a voice. To keep costs down, families provide a healthy packed lunch and snack. No additional charges apply unless extra hours are requested, nursery consumables are used or late collection fees are incurred. We are committed to offering high-quality, affordable care in a supportive and engaging setting .
Early Bird 8.00am
Full day: 9.00am-6.00pm
Half day
8am -pm 1 or 1pm -6pm
Two full days 9am -4.30am

Our teacher-led day nursery provides high-quality care and education for children aged 0-5 years at competitive prices. We focus on fostering independence, confidence, and self-expression, helping children develop their unique voices in a nurturing environment. Nutritious meals are provided and charged for onsite, ensuring balanced and healthy options. Our experienced team creates a supportive, engaging space where every child can thrive

nursery is brilliant. Staff are approachable, friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much for them.
My children started last September. Within 2 weeks of being there they were coming home telling me their alphabet and singing songs.
They make the classroom a fun environment for the children to learn in.
They have lots of different activities throughout the day to keep the children engaged.
The food is also really good.

Would highly recommend this nursery, cant thank them enough for the hard work and time they put into the children in the setting. My son loves going to nursery and since going here I have noticed a huge improvement in his learning before his journey to school. The staff are lovely and friendly and always go above and beyond. My 5 year old son attended this nursery, he is at big school now but I honestly believe that going here gave him the best start in life, all the staff was wonderful and always went above and beyond for the children and family’s. I will always remember all the staff from nursery and how amazing u all were. Definitely would recommend this nursery ❤️
My daughter started in September and I’m so happy I chose this nursery for her. My daughter’s last nursery did not meet my child’s needs as she is different to other children. My daughter is on a SEN plan and struggles with speech and communication. Within the first 2 weeks my daughter is a lot more vocal and is showing more interest. The nursery keeps me updated with her eating and drinking as she does struggle with this. My daughter is always excited to go to nursery and at times doesn’t want to leave the nursery as she feels comfortable there. Words can’t express how grateful I am to the staff and I feel at ease knowing my daughter is being looked after well. The support system is great especially for children like mines who are on a SEN plan. I definitely recommend this nursery to any parents who are looking to apply, it’s a safe, supportive and fun environment for all children with different needs and a brilliant team who are very well educated and want the best for the children.
My second child graduated this nursery and I could not say one slightly bad thing. Everything is there what should be, it is certainly an outstanding nursery on paper: education, facilities, care, safeguarding, but what matters to me even more is how loving, genuine the owners and all teachers are. They are all stars and we are so very very greatful.
